About
Identity assists thousands of students and disconnected youth living in high poverty areas of Montgomery County, MD. We work with them in schools, in the community and on the playing fields to help improve social and emotional learning, achieve academic success and prepare for work. Our primary focus is on assisting Latino youth and their families who are most at-risk for poor academic and economic life outcomes. With our partners, Identity serves all at-risk youth who need help. Identity's primary goal is to support our clients successful transition to adulthood by providing a range of culturally and linguistically appropriate services that, based on the Positive Youth Development model, reduce their risk factors, increase their protective factors, strengthen their social and emotional well-being and support their academic and economic achievements. Identity currently runs programs at four high schools, four middle schools, two elementary schools, two community-based Youth Opportunity Centers and the county correctional facility. Regardless of where youth first access Identity, they may also draw on our comprehensive case management services, mental health and substance abuse counseling and family engagement and education programming. Our mission is to create opportunities for Latino youth and their families to believe in themselves and realize their highest potential. We envision a just and equitable society that nurtures all youth and is enriched by their contributions. Identity is a community-based 501(c) 3 organization, founded in 1998.
