About
We still consider our most important responsibility to be stewardship of the land. When Albert ( back row, on the left) converted the dairy to a certifed organic operation in 1993, our farm became the first certified organic dairy west of the Mississippi River. In 1994, Albert forged ahead and opened Straus Family Creamery to produce organic milk, yogurt, butter and cheese under the family name. We now make ice cream, too! Today, Straus Family Creamery products are available in the 11 western states. We also get some of our milk from other neighboring certified-organic family farms, the Tresch and Wilson families. They have become an extended part of the Straus family. We are all deeply committed to: Producing milk and dairy products that are organic and healthful for everyone; Developing sustainable, environmentally sound practices in farming and food processing and in rural community planning. To achieve these goals, we raise all our cows according to the National Organic Standards and we maintain all our land as certified organic. Our family continues to be active in farmland protection and other environmental issues. Our milk is so rich and fresh tasting that the experience of genuine, premium taste is a surprise to most folks. Our European Style butter, European-Style yogurts, and deliciously rich ice cream are wonderfully tasty - we\'ve won gold medals at the Los Angeles County Fair, The American Cheese Society and the California State Fair. We have been named the best butter in America by House and Garden Magazine. Our products have been called \"extraordinary\" by Martha Stewart, who has featured our dairy, creamery and products on her television show.
