A TeamMates mentor is a cheerleader, an advocate, and a safe, adult friend. Thousands of children across the Midwest are waiting for a mentor to just simply be there for them. During the 2017-2018 school year, TeamMates served more than 9,400 youth across 160 communities in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Wyoming. This year, they’ve expanded into South Dakota, and are hoping to serve 12,000 youth by 2020.
Being a mentor is simple— play a board game, listen, and offer guidance to a young a person in your community once a week at school during the academic year. We are proud to report, 98% of TeamMates mentees say they trust their mentor. TeamMates offers support throughout your entire mentoring journey, so you can feel confident in being there for your mentee. To join the movement, go to teammates.org today.
