About
The forces of globalization have led to unprecedented levels of migration, reshaping the social, political and economic landscape of our world. Never have we needed global cooperation more when it comes to research and policy. Situated in the heart of Canada’s most diverse city, the CERC is a new research hub established in 2019 at Toronto Metropolitan University dedicated to advancing our understanding of contemporary issues in migration. \n\nThe CERC in Migration and Integration program is led by Chair Anna Triandafyllidou, an internationally recognized sociologist and migration policy expert. Anna leads a diverse research team that is contributing innovative and actionable knowledge concerning migration and post-migration processes, forced and voluntary mobility, and the role of countries of origin and transit. With a special interest in the Canadian context, our team undertakes comparative research among different countries and regions. \n\nOur goal is to build a community of academics, policy makers and civil actors to bridge theory and practice in pursuit of a more humanitarian approach to global migration.\n\nThe CERC in Migration and Integration program is made possible, in part, through a $10 million grant from the Government of Canada.
