About
The Caviness Family has been in the beef packing business for over forty five years and currently has 2nd and 3rd generation family members who are actively involved. Pete Caviness, a lifetime cattle buyer, saw a need for a progressive beef packer in the Panhandle of Texas and bought a small locker plant in Hereford, Texas, in 1962. The business has grown from a handful of cattle to 1200 head processed each day. Since 1970, the company has been steered by Terry Caviness. Today, the company has two processing locations and markets products worldwide. In July of 2005, Caviness completed construction on its new Harvest Facility and moved a few miles west from its original location. We are located in the heart of cattle country, just 5 miles southwest of Hereford, TX on the north side of Hwy. 60. The new Harvest Facility is the most modern, state of the art, green-field beef project built to date. Caviness commenced operations of a new beef fabrication addition in November 2008. This 100,000 square foot expansion complements the harvest facility, and allows Caviness to efficiently produce wholesome beef products meeting or exceeding the requirements of our customers. Palo Duro Meat Processing is home to Beef Sales for Caviness. The location is also an efficient processing facility that currently produces approximately 1 million pounds of ground beef weekly. It is located on the northeast side of Amarillo, Texas, just 55 miles away from the Caviness Beef Packers plant. It had a complete facility renovation completed in October of 2002.
