Frontier Transport, a Vitran Company, is part of a leading, full service North American transportation company servicing Canada and the United States with a combination of distribution systems and companies that provide a wide range of logistics solutions. Vitran is comprised of over 3,000 associates (including 540 owner operators), over 4,500 tractors and trailers, and has over 100 service centers and offices. Vitran's U.S. Truckload Group, Frontier Transport Corp, is made up of three divisions serving the mid-west and the southeast. Each division is a short haul truckload carrier with excellent service coverage. Frontier (FTAC) services the mid-west and Frontier South (FSOD) services the southeast with dry van operations. The third division, Frontier Temp. Control, services the mid-west with 53' refrigerated trailers controlling load temperatures from -10 degrees to +70 degrees. Established on December 21, 1979, Frontier Transport Corporation was granted 48 state contract carrier authority and began truckload operations in the mid-west based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. With 100% percent owner operators and company trailers, Frontier's vision was to create long term success with a short haul truckload philosophy. The operation was designed to provide same day truckload service to shippers within Indiana and the surrounding states. Utilizing intrastate authorities in each state of operation along with interstate authority, Frontier developed a fast, efficient organization that has maximized volume and service excellence while providing shippers with reduced transportation costs. Today, Frontier Transport Corp. operates with over 300 Owner Operators and 1150 trailers in three distinct markets.
