The Department of Defense Dependents Schools - Europe (DoDDS-E) is part of the Department of Defense Education Activity ( DoDEA). There are three educational systems within DoDEA: DoDDS-Europe DoDDS-Pacific DDESS (Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools) DoDDS-Europe operates 81 schools within five districts throughout Europe. DoDDS-Europe serves over 35,000 school-age children of active duty military and civilian employees. Like many schools in the United States, Department of Defense (DoD) schools in Europe are accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI). The entire DoDEA system is guided by the 2006–2011 DoDEA Community Strategic Plan (CSP), which outlines our vision, mission and goals.
