Goodwill was founded in 1902 and built on the belief that work is an essential foundation for a meaningful life. Goodwill Industries of San Diego County (GISD) was established in 1930 in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter by a dedicated group of community leaders who also believed in the incredible power of work. After more than 85 years in this industry, we have witnessed the impact of work on individuals, families and our community. GISD is a not-for-profit community organization that provides employment training and paid work experience to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. In addition, Goodwill offers free employment services through Goodwill Employment Centers to anyone in the community who is looking for a job. Our goal is to improve employability and help individuals gain independence and financial security.
