About
We think it is important to know about the organization with which you place your hard-earned retirement funds. PENSCO Trust has been in the self-directed IRA business for 16 years. First approved and regulated by the IRS as one of approximately 257 non-bank custodians, PENSCO (under it's original name, PENSCO Pension Services) became a broker dealer in 1997. At that time, we were also regulated by the National Association of Broker dealers (NASD). In 2001, PENSCO Trust was formed as we changed from being a broker dealer to our current status as a bank and trust company regulated by the Banking Commissioner of New Hampshire. It is very important that you understand how your self-directed IRA custodian is regulated, because regulators provide an important safeguard for the companies they regulate, as well as the customers the companies serve. The primary purpose of a regulator is to make sure that the institutions they govern operate in a safe, sound and legal manner. Regulators conduct periodic audits depending upon their view of the strength and condition of the institutions they supervise. They have the power to require changes in policies and procedures and even to close institutions if necessary. Unregulated IRA custodians, or companies who have limited supervision are potential risks to consumers. Be sure, if you are considering other providers, that you question how they too are regulated. PENSCO Trust is proud of its reputation for integrity. We have regularly been on the Better Business Bureau's Honor Roll for no complaints, and we have never had any regulatory disciplinary action or sanction. We have been a service leader for many years, and we have been guaranteeing 48 hour funding for over 13 years. Some of our key service features and accomplishments in our industry are noted below: First to allow clients to view their transactions and asset holdings on-line (1990) First on the Internet (1994) First to allow prospects to complete an IRA application on-line First firm in our industry - to provide automatic e-mail notifications of every transaction BBB Honor Roll for 14 years Hosting first national symposium on self-directed IRA issues for professionals (e.g., CPAs, and attorneys) in October 2005 Educated a network of more than 350 professional advisers to assist clients with their self-directed IRA investment questions and strategies (click here to find an adviser in your state) PENSCO Trust Company has been regulated from its inception All easy-to-use forms available on-line at this site Provides free IRA alert news update to keep you abreast of important events affecting IRA accounts PENSCO Trust Company is dedicated to helping you succeed in your retirement investing by providing you with the necessary tools, information, and service.
