About
The Dollywood Foundation is the organizational body whose main focus is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program that instills the love of learning and reading in children from the earliest age possible. While the Foundation has been active in philanthropic work since 1988, the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program began in 1996 in Dolly's childhood home of Sevier County, Tennessee and has since spread across the United States, Canada, The United Kingdom and Australia. In communities that sponsor an Imagination Library program, every child registered receives a free, new, age-appropriate book each month in the mail until age five. The program can be implemented in any community by private organizations and it is continually growing. The Dollywood Foundation manages all the administrative and managerial duties of the program overall so that participating communities can focus their efforts toward overseeing and promoting their local program. The mission of The Dollywood Foundation is to share the life and legacy of Dolly Parton as an inspiration for children to "Dream More, Learn More, Care More, and Be More!"
