ColorDynamics was founded in 1922 as Argus Press by Joseph P. Leach in a small store on the north side of Chicago. It had a small amount of type, two 10 x 15 hand-fed presses, and a hand-powered cutter. The company then moved to a basement a short distance from the original site. New equipment was purchased and the work force of four people began to grow. Argus struggled through the depression. Employees worked when a job came in, and then went home to wait for the next call, the next job. Gradually they gained solid customer loyalty with such accounts as U. S. Gypsum and A. C. Nielson, the television ratings company. In time the presses were rolling, never to stop. As an extension of Argus, on May 22, 1986 ColorDynamics opened its doors in Allen, Texas. It had three presses and 28 employees. Today, under the leadership of Chuck Chalifoux and a talented management group, ColorDynamics employs more than 200 people. It has in-house pre-press image manipulation technology as well as 3 web presses and 4 sheetfed presses.
