The Professional Teachers' Council NSW (PTC NSW) is the peak body for professional teachers' associations in NSW with 45 member associations. Established in 1973 it represents teachers at all levels of the education system, early childhood to tertiary. PTC NSW represents both government and non-government sectors, in all Key Learning, cross-curricula and leadership areas. PTC NSW provides an independent and non-partisan forum for the discussion of education policy and has a commitment to the professional development of teachers and to enhancing the professionalism of teachers and the quality of education in New South Wales. The Professional Teachers' Council NSW enhances the professionalism of teachers and the quality of education in New South Wales by linking and supporting member associations, giving and gaining strength through involvement, co-operative effort and diversity of their individual contributions. The Professional Teachers' Council NSW exists to serve the needs of and to represent its members by providing: - Professional Learning events in schools designed and presented by association members via PTCplus - A united voice on educational issues - A forum for discussion of educational ideas with access to and influence on the processes of educational decision-making at all levels - Leadership and professional learning opportunities - Networks for member associations - Liaison with relevant groups on educational issues - Effective administrative services and support in a recognisable location while affirming the importance of the professional expertise and the unique role of professional teachers' associations in education.
