About
MMCC Los Angeles (MMCC) is a non-profit hospital for seals and sea lions that strand on the 70+ miles of beaches from Malibu to Seal Beach due to illness, injury and malnutrition. Operating under a permit from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service – the federal agency responsible for stewardship of national marine resources -- MMCC has provided top-notch care for marine mammals in need since 1992, with the goal of rehabilitating and releasing them back to their ocean home. MMCC is one of the busiest marine mammal rehabilitation facilities in the country, admitting on average over 350 patients per year. To date, MMCC has treated over 8,000 marine mammals that would otherwise have been left to die on our beaches. Beyond providing direct care for stranded marine mammals, MMCC also promotes ocean conservation through education, research, and strategic partnerships with other conservation-minded organizations.
