About
Goulburn Valley Water supplies water to 54 towns from 37 supply systems and provides reticulated sewerage to 30 regional towns via 26 wastewater management facilities. Bulk water supply is principally from the Goulburn/Broken, Murray, Steavenson, Rubicon and Delatite River systems and a number of smaller local streams such as Sunday Creek and Seven Creeks. The Goulburn Valley region is known as "the food bowl of Australia". The Corporation services 16 major companies operating food processing plants in the region that require large volumes of high quality water and their wastewater streams create special environmental challenges. Goulburn Valley Water generated annual revenue in 2012/13 of around $73.7 million and managed an asset base valued at over $792 million. This infrastructure includes 37 water treatment plants, 26 wastewater management facilities, 322 pumping stations, 123 tanks and reservoirs over 1,700 kilometres of water mains and over 1,200 kilometres of pressure and gravity sewers. The Corporation directly employs over 200 people, in operational, engineering, financial and administrative roles. This workforce is complemented by partnerships with consultants and contractors to undertake a range of business, technical and operational functions.
