About
Resco is a privately owned company with headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Resco has been known as a leader in the specialty or monolithic refractories industry. Since 2000, Resco has become a new company through strategic acquisitions of assets from three refractory competitors. On March 3, 2000, Resco's purchase of assets divested by RHI Refractories America was completed. Resco acquired certain designated assets and, along with them, the opportunity to grow its operations and market share. These assets were associated with specific brands produced at specific locations. Under the purchase agreement, Resco acquired the Hammond and Marelan facilities that were previously Harbison-Walker, including the plant, assets, employees, technology and know-how necessary for production, excluding certain brands that were retained by RHI. North American Refractories' Farber plant was not acquired, only the rights to produce certain Farber-made brands and the equipment needed to produce them. Production of these brands was moved to Resco's East Canton, Ohio plant. On December 17, 2002, Resco Products, Inc., acquired certain assets of National Refractories and Minerals Corporation ("NRMC") which included brand names, mixes/formulations, intellectual property, molds, dies, fixtures, and certain equipment from NRMC plants at Mexico, MO, Columbiana, OH, and Wellsville, MO. Resco did not purchase the plants or the property on which the plants are located. On March 17, 2006, Resco Products, Inc., acquired all outstanding shares of Worldwide Refractories, including their operating plant in Tarentum, PA. The purchase brought dolomite into the RESCO family of products. In December 2006, Resco purchased New Castle Refractories and Refco, including plants in New Castle, PA; Massillon, OH; and Newell, WV. The New Castle purchase added SiC, Nitride-bonded silicon carbide, Cordierite, and clay-graphite kiln furniture to our product lines, along with insulating firebrick. The Refco purchase added a precast facility to our group of plants, along with a strong line of clay-alumina specialties. In June of 2007, Resco acquired Shenango Advanced Ceramics. This purchase further enhanced Resco's kiln furniture product lines with additional cordierite mixes and recrystallized silicon carbide. As a result of the RHI divesture purchase; the acquisition of National products, technology and equipment; and the recent purchases of Worldwide Refractories, Refco, New Castle Refractories, and Shenango Advanced Ceramics Resco now has the following manufacturing, product and application capabilities
