Del Monte Electric was founded in 1938 in Pacific Grove, California as a subsidiary of Stolte Construction. The company was originally located on Del Monte Cannery property and performed work exclusively for the cannery. Foster Daoust took over management of Del Monte Electric in 1944 and moved the company to the bay area. To keep up with construction demand in Contra Costa County, Foster opened a branch office in Walnut Creek in 1968. Robert Daoust purchased the company from his father in 1983. Robert concentrated on work in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties and assembled a team of highly qualified electricians and office staff that could take on any project in the bay area. John Hunter purchased Del Monte Electric in 2000 and oversees all operations as President of the company. Rick Henry is Vice President and manages the Dublin office. The company has expanded into the north and south bay counties and has experienced significant growth. In 2004, the company moved from its Hayward and Concord offices into its new 16,000 square foot building in Dublin. This building was purchased and modernized to provide a permanent and central location to operate with sufficient size and flexibility for future growth. Del Monte performs work in Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Joaquin, and Solano counties.
