Founded in 1953, Evercoat (formerly Fibre Glass-Evercoat) began producing a fiberglass resin material used to recover and repair wooden boats. By the mid-1970's, Evercoat entered the professional autobody repair market with polyester body fillers and putties. In 1995 Evercoat was acquired by Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) and is part of ITW's Automotive Aftermarket Group. Today, Evercoat is a leading manufacturer of autobody repair fillers and putties in the automotive refinish industry, patch and repair products for the recreational marine market. Evercoat’s product innovation has always been a dominating force in the automotive industry. Beginning in 1961, the company introduced the first colored catalysts for polyester body filler which assured the bodyman of a thoroughly mixed product. The subsequent years brought many technologically-advanced products such as FEATHER FILL®, METAL GLAZE®, RAGE® and the METALWORKS® system.
