LaSante Health Center, a brand-new healthcare facility, will soon become a household name in New York City. Built on the 2nd floor of a newly renovated building at 672 Parkside Avenue between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues, LaSante Health Center is an awe-inspiring, state-of-the-art, 15,000 square ft. complex, beautifully designed to improve the overall patient care experience. With 32 exam rooms, well equipped, color-coded by specialty area, LaSante Health Center was planned with the community in mind offering services that meet the basic primary care needs of the residents of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. At present, LaSante is in a progressive stage and is now offering Internal Medicine services to the underserved population within its immediate surrounding areas. LaSante was conceived to address the much-debated healthcare disparities in Brooklyn. By all measurable criteria, the residents of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens region are medically underserved. The well-known socio-economic indicators of this particular community are also the main determinants of their poor health record. Chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperglycemia, infectious diseases, obesity and cardiac conditions are more prevalent in the area and remain an unshakable constant in the high cost of healthcare. It is however an unfortunate situation that can be reversed by comprehensive preventive care. In a catchment area of more than 100,000 residents with a largely Caribbean mix, LaSante‘s main mission is to deliver community-based services aimed at reducing these appalling health statistics.
