About
The Greater Yellowstone Coalition's mission is: People protecting the lands, waters, and wildlife of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, now and for future generations. We are widely regarded as the one of the most influential conservation groups in the 20-million-acre Greater Yellowstone region. We have a long history -- spanning 30 years -- of conservation advocacy protecting one of the last intact ecosystems on Earth so that our kids and grand kids can enjoy Greater Yellowstone in much the same way we do today. We have had a legacy of success. Our coalition of non-profit partners and 40,000 supporters has helped protect (again and again) one of the most treasured landscaped in the world. We helped prevent the New World Mine just above and outside Yellowstone's northeast corner, a victory that brought President Clinton to Yellowstone to state loud and clear: "Yellowstone is more precious than gold." We dramatically reduced the amount of checkerboard lands on our national forests, we significantly improved visitors’ winter experience in Yellowstone, we have stopped dams that would have impacted native trout, and we have opened expanded habitat for Yellowstone bison.
