The Cumberland-Dauphin-Harrisburg Transit Authority (also known as Capital Area Transit or CAT) was formed in 1973 by the Cumberland County and Dauphin County Commissioners and the City of Harrisburg. CAT was designated as the public transportation provider in the greater Harrisburg area. CAT currently has two divisions, a fixed route bus division and a shared ride/paratransit division. Nearly 8,000 people depend on CAT each day to get to work, medical facilities, school and other life-sustaining activities. CAT is dedicated to helping all residents in the region get to where they want to go.
