The National Lipid Association (NLA) is a multidisciplinary, non-profit membership association created in 2002 to serve the community of lipid professionals who manage patients with lipid disorders and increased cardiovascular risk. Our goal, as well as the goal of other related medical organizations, is to reduce the mortality of Americans from CVD by presenting data on an array of effective therapies available including diet, exercise and pharmacologic agents. Moreover the goal is to establish the specialty of lipidology and the management of patients with lipid disorders as a national priority in medicine. (see mission)The NLA is a multidisciplinary organization that represents more than 1,000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, dieticians and their practices. (see bylaws).
