Hometown Health is a group of Northern Nevada's largest and most experienced health-insurance companies. We provide wide-ranging medical coverage and great service to our members.
Hometown Health Plan, Inc., entered the market as a health maintenance organization (HMO) in February 1988. We began with the philosophy that health care should be both affordable and flexible and offer quality services at competitive prices. In mid-1990, we became northern Nevada's only federally qualified HMO.
In late 1992, Hometown Health Providers, Inc., became a licensed third-party benefit administrator, providing services such as claims adjudication, repricing of claims, eligibility verification, and a provider network. We also perform utilization review and case management for self-funded employers.
In October 1993, we began operating Hometown Health Providers Insurance Company. Through this nonprofit company, we offer fully insured employers a preferred provider organization, dental plans, and a traditional indemnity medical insurance product.
We continued to offer more health-care options to Nevadans with Workers Choice in 1994. This product extended coverage to injured workers. In 1995, Hometown Health Plan began offering Senior Care Plus, a Medicare+Choice HMO, to control costs and expand services for the senior population.
