Sierra Central Credit Union was formed in 1981 as the result of a merger of the Beale Air Force Base Credit Union, founded in 1955, with Shasta Cascade Central Credit Union in the Redding area, chartered in 1963. Their merger combined a field of membership which included active and retired military and civilian employees of Beale AFB, as well as city, county, hospital and lumber industry employees in Northern California. At the time of the merger in 1981, Sierra Central had a membership of 25,841, assets of $29 million and a loan portfolio of $22 million. Today we have over 63,000 members, over $245 million in assets, and over $153 million in loans to members! As a member, you're an owner, not just another customer!
