About
Established in 1969, Bark Frameworks pursues innovative design while following the highest standards of preservation framing practices. We specialize in framing Impressionist, modern, and contemporary art; and in designing custom mirror frames. Every Bark frame is designed and built at the company’s 27,000 square foot Long Island City facility, which houses a showroom, design and preservation studios, a wood shop, metal shop, and gilding studio. Bark Frameworks began in Jared Bark’s SoHo loft. We started out by framing works by our contemporaries, with the simple goal of serving the art being presented. Over time, our range grew to embrace the framing of Western works from Impressionism forward. Framing for photographs, textiles, and Asian works like scrolls have become specialties. We also design and build mirror frames, which add visual interest to any design scheme. As of January 2017, Bark Frameworks is proud to be 100% employee owned. States current CEO Karl Thorndike, “This transition of ownership is favorable for both our dedicated workforce and our clients, as it ensures the future availability of the high level of craftsmanship and care of artworks established by Jed Bark.” Each Bark staff member is dedicated to the company mission: to create frames of innovative design using materials of the highest archival quality, ensuring that your artwork is kept safe for years to come.
