Crime Victims Assistance Center, Inc. is a non-profit agency, founded in 1978, committed to increasing awareness and understanding of the needs of crime victims and those affected by, or at risk of experiencing crime. We provide long term and short term counseling and supportive services as well as prevention, advocacy and education to persons throughout Broome County. We serve the community with a 24 hour crisis line to provide callers with emergency crisis intervention, supportive counseling, information and referral. Our agency has a victim advocacy program, where advocates accompany and assist crime victims through medical and criminal justice processes, a Child Advocacy Center, and Crime Victims Board Compensation for victims of crime who have suffered a monetary loss as a result of a crime. Crime Victims Assistance Center provides free youth, community and professional education in all areas of victmization via our 4 person education department team. In 2008 CVAC Created the Broome County Sexual Assault Response Team, a multidisciplinary team created to address the issue of sexual assault as a community.
