The Washington Heights and Inwood (WHIN) Music Community Charter School will provide our diverse student population with rigorous academic instruction, intensive music education and a positive learning environment so that every student can thrive academically and personally. With a uniquely challenging educational program that incorporates intensive daily music instruction, WHIN fosters innovative teaching methods, imbues students with a love of learning, and facilitates the development of our community through music, academic, and social inclusion. WHIN Music Community Charter School will be the first El Sistema based school in New York City and ensure every student’s success by implementing a rigorous, inquiry-driven, project-based academic curriculum with two hours of daily music instruction based on the El Sistema model, whose inclusive philosophies and individual/social benefits for its participants.
