Swiff-Train Company is a unique entity, a family-owned business where fair business practices, mutual respect and appreciation for entrepreneurship are foundations established over 65 years ago. Joseph Swiff and his son-in-law, Herbert Train, founded the company in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1937. It began operations with the reprocessing of loose cotton. Mr. Train, gaining knowledge and experience, expanded the import/export operations to include steel products and other commodities such as chemicals and agricultural products. Today, ST GLOBAL, as the import/export division is named, continues to provide an active conduit to worldwide business. Under Mr. Train's leadership, the floor covering and surfaces division began operations in 1959. Today, Swiff-Train Company, operated by Mr. Train's sons and family, employs approximately 150 people actively engaged in the wholesale surfacing business, with locations in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Victoria, Harlingen, Houston, Austin, Tyler and Dallas. The company is well respected in the industry as a distributor with a full collection of the finest brands of floor coverings and countertop products.
