About
Our Lady's Hospice & Care Services is a 218 bed hospice for people with a wide range of needs from rehabilitation to end-of-life care. Last year our 600 staff and 300 volunteers provided person-centred loving care to around 2,000 individuals in our Harold's Cross and Blackrock facilities and in the community. Using a multidisciplinary approach our teams tailor make plans to address the needs of all our patients, residents and their families. There are three main pillars to our care services 1) Palliative care. Harold's Cross and Blackrock Hospice both provide community, in-patient, out-patient and day clinic services. 2) Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Disease Unit or RMDU (in-patient and out-patient care) this unit is unique in Ireland and helps those with rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions to achieve and maintain the best possible quality of living. 3) Care of Older Person — Anna Gaynor House is a 100 bed residential unit for those with chronic disabilities or life-limiting illnesses. One of the services of this unit is CRU, the Community Reablement Unit. This innovative facility works with older people to maximise their safety, independence and mobility so they can stay in their homes longer. In addition, the Harold's Cross site also hosts a purpose-built Education and Research Centre, which comprises a 148-seat lecture theatre, library, five classrooms and offices. In conjunction with a range of colleges, it offers courses in Gerontology, Palliative Care and Rheumatology and a range of healthcare disciplines at masters, graduate and undergraduate levels.
