Collective Retreats is an experiential travel company redefining the accommodations experience for travelers through a collection of unique luxury retreats in unexpected places. Collective Retreats was built with an asset-light business model, meaning that each destination was created with minimal materials, removing the permanence of brick and mortar. A veteran of the hotel industry, CEO Peter Mack correctly identified that the majority of hotel revenue is spent on property expenses and upkeep, and not toward furthering the guest experience. Many of these costs were tied to the physical hotel building and in order to reallocate these funds for unique guest experiences and hospitality, Peter decided to turn the hotel business model upside down.
