About
We call ourselves a "church for people who aren't into church". At The Meeting House, as we study the teaching and life of Jesus, it strikes us that it was all the irreligious people who were drawn to his movement and it was the religious leaders who were offended by him. Jesus' message was that people didn't need to go through religion with all its rules, rituals, regulations and routines to get right with God. They could go directly to God and simply trust in him and allow God's love and truth to change their hearts and lives. They could be changed from the inside out. Our mission is to honour God by proclaiming the irreligious message of Jesus and fostering loving communities of fully committed Christ-followers. We are one church that meets in many locations. On Sunday mornings over 5,200 people meet at 18 different locations across Ontario, and during the week at over 180 Home Churches. The Meeting House is part of a family of churches called the Brethren in Christ (BIC). The BIC has been influenced by key elements from a number of spiritual movements, including the pietist focus on heart-felt devotion to Jesus, the Wesleyan pursuit of personal holiness, and the Anabaptist emphasis on simplicity, peace-making, and living the teachings of Jesus in every day life.
