The Basel Institute on Governance is an independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to countering corruption and other financial crimes and to improving standards of governance. Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, since 2003, the Basel Institute works worldwide with the public and private sectors and maintains field operations in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia. The Basel Institute is registered as a Swiss foundation and is an Associated Institute of the University of Basel. Working with partners and across disciplines, the Basel Institute's 100+ staff conduct technical assistance, training and applied research across the thematic areas of international asset recovery, public governance, anti-corruption compliance and Collective Action, green corruption and public finance management.
