The Center for Watershed Protection works to protect and restore our streams, rivers, lakes, wetlands, and bays from the impacts of land use activities. We create viable solutions and partnerships for responsible land and water management.
Founded in 1992, the Center is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Ellicott City, MD, with virtual offices in Charlottesville and Leesburg, VA; Ithaca, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Bluffton, SC and Champaign, IL. Our experienced staff of scientists, planners and environmental professionals are the technical experts who help municipalities, advocates, policymakers and citizens get clean water projects in the ground.
The Center conducts applied research to better understand the influence of land use activities on water resources and develop best practices to prevent and alleviate potential impacts. The Center also works directly with state and local governments, watershed organizations, environmental consultants, and other clients to assist them with their watershed and stormwater management needs. The Center hosts an annual webcast series and conference and also offers customized on-site training. We also offer a professional membership through the Center for Watershed Protection Association, a national network of professionals dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in watershed and stormwater management.
