The Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) is the only agency in the state of Illinois to provide combined, comprehensive free and confidential services to women, men and children, of all ages, who have been affected by domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, human trafficking, or elder abuse. CFPA also provides Adult Protective Services to disabled individuals, between the ages of 18-59, who have been affected by abuse. Additionally, CFPA provides school based prevention education to more than 33,000 area students annually, with programs on body safety, anti-bullying, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.
CFPA has two domestic violence shelters in Peoria and Pekin, offices in the Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford County Courthouses to assist with Orders of Protection and facilitates an abuser re-education classes are offered in another Peoria office. Medical advocates are available 24/7 to respond to victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence who obtain medical treatment in the emergency departments of area hospitals.
Annually, CFPA serves more than 5,000 individuals seeking peace.
