Luther King Capital Management (LKCM) was founded as a registered investment advisory firm by Luther King in 1979 with an initial client located in Fort Worth, Texas. Prior to forming LKCM, Mr. King was a director of Lionel D. Edie and managed its office in Dallas, Texas, until the sale of that firm in December 1978. LKCM currently has eight shareholders, all of whom are employed by the firm. Mr. King serves as the President of the firm and oversees decisions regarding the firm's investment strategy and client investments. As of September 30, 2007, LKCM had fifty-six employees, including twenty-seven investment professionals with many educational and professional designations, including CFA, MBA, and CPA. LKCM has grown primarily through referrals from existing clients, consultants, banks, and investment professionals. The firm provides investment advisory services to high net worth individuals, foundations, endowments, investment companies, pension and profit sharing plans, trusts and estates, and other organizations. As of September 30, 2007, LKCM had approximately $7.9 billion in assets under management. LKCM's business strategy is focused on managing equity and fixed income portfolios for clients. LKCM's equity investment strategy seeks to obtain superior returns for clients relative to the appropriate benchmark while maintaining lower levels of risk and volatility. LKCM maintains a dedicated, internal research staff that continually engages in rigorous fundamental analysis to identify attractive equity investment opportunities. The staff's research efforts focus on, among other things, identifying companies that demonstrate significant competitive advantages, high and/or improving financial returns, attractive free cash flows and reinvestment opportunities, and strong balance sheets. The firm's fixed income investment strategy focuses on investments in U.S. government and agency securities, investment grade corporate bonds, and municipal bonds, depending on the client's individual income requirements and tax profile. Fixed income portfolios are structured based upon anticipated interest rate and credit trends, with average maturities typically ranging between three to ten years under normal market and economic conditions. LKCM and its professionals are dedicated and committed to serving the individual investment objectives and goals of the firm's clients. Mr. King founded the firm on these ideals and they continue to serve as the foundation of LKCM's firm culture.
