About
Kopp Glass was founded in 1926 from the reorganization of the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass and Glass Company. The strength and core competency of the original company was the ability to develop and mold beautiful glass lamps and tableware in a wide range of colors. Some of those same core competencies are what makes Kopp successful today. The company expanded into the industrial market in its early years through the development of "selenium red" glass. This glass became the standard for railroad signal lighting and the rest is history. Through the years, Kopp Glass has continued to make important contributions in the aerospace, industrial, scientific, transportation, and other markets. In the 80's and 90's our glass scientists developed monolithic night vision (NVIS) compatible filters used in many of the world's military aircraft for night operations. These filters allow pilots to operate with night vision goggles without being blinded by the instrumentation lighting. In the early 1980's, Kopp Glass acquired the Corning Glass filter business. This product line continues to be an important and strategic part of the company today. We continue to add new products to the line and to improve product quality to meet the needs of our customers. The markets and products have changed over the years and so has Kopp. Today we have customers in many continents. We continue to upgrade our facility and manufacturing capability and to develop our technical expertise. New product development is a key driver in our future strategy to satisfy the needs and requirements of our customers. We are firmly committed to delivering value-added solutions to our customers.
