SEED Project Overview: Founded in 2002 by Amadou Gallo Fall, the SEED Project (Sports for Education and Economic Development) is an International NGO based Senegal that uses basketball as a hook to engage more than 2,000 youth from Senegal and The Gambia in education and leadership development programs. Our goal is to develop socially conscious leaders that have the tools to lead their country. Why SEED: With 60% of the population in Senegal under the age of 24, and only 5% enrolled in college, we have the opportunity to educate and empower a generation of young people. Since 2002, we have placed or found employment for 95% of our students who are now studying or working in 16 countries around the world. Our Programs: 1) SEED Academy: Boarding school environment for up to 40 middle school and high school boys and girls a year in Senegal. Students receive school tuition, academic tutoring, basketball training, English language classes and college placement support. More than 110 alumni have graduated from SEED Academy. 2) SEED Rise: After-school program for 1,500 boys and girls, grades K-12 in Senegal and Gambia. Students receive after-school basketball classes, academic tutoring and leadership development classes. 3) SEED Scholars: Career services and job training support for SEED alumni around the world. Programming includes: internship and job placement, career mentoring, resume and cover letter support, interview prep. Partners: Nike, USAID, UNICEF, NBA, Peace Corps, Babac'ards Foundation, CNEPS
