North Metro Community Services was organized by a small group of parents for children with disabilities in 1964. We have evolved into a not-for-profit agency dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for persons of all ages who are developmentally disabled or delayed and who live in Adams County, Colorado, excluding the City of Aurora. North Metro is one of 20 Community Centered Boards in Colorado dedicated to serving this population. We are the single point of entry in Adams County for persons with developmental disabilities or delays. Persons interested in learning more about the Intake, or entry process are encouraged to call (303) 252-7199. Colorado law does not entitle (automatically provide) services to persons with developmental disabilities. Each Community Centered Board determines a person's eligibility based on State of Colorado Rules and Regulations and, if necessary, establishes waiting lists for program services. Once services are available to an eligible person, programs are selected to address that person's needs. Programming may include employment, housing, social interaction and community opportunities, medical care, and therapeutic interventions. Funding for these services is provided by Federal, State of Colorado, Adams County and private sources. North Metro has built a strong foundation of community partnerships which allows for expansion of services and responsible and efficient use of our funding, but most importantly, we are strong advocates for the people we serve by assuring their basic human rights are met and that they are treated with dignity and respect.
