Lewis Bose, a native of Indianapolis, graduated from Tech High School. He attended Swarthmore, a liberal arts college in Pennsylvania, and graduated from Yale Law School in 1942. Directly after graduation, Lew was called up for military duty in World War II, where he served in the Navy. Interesting enough, in 1942, if one was called up for military service, the bar exam was waived. After the war, he began practicing law with one of the largest law firms in Indianapolis, then numbering about a dozen lawyers.
