The Property Appraiser is an elected county constitutional officer whose duties are prescribed by Florida Law. The office of the Property Appraiser is independent of the County Commission and any other Taxing Authority which sets tax rates or annual budgets. State law has preserved this independence. The operation of the office has oversight from the Florida Department of Revenue.
Dana Blickley was elected in November 2012 to serve a four-year term as Brevard County's Property Appraiser.
