Cayce Mill Supply Company was founded in 1919 by Clinton H. Cayce, a south Christian farmer. In 1920, his son, Granville L. Cayce Sr., decided to follow in his father's footsteps and establish what was soon to be a family business. The original firm was located on the northwest corner of Eighth and Liberty Streets. The product mix for the sale included pipe and fittings, roofing materials, sawmill and grain milling supplies, farm machinery items, and farm supplies. Thus the name Cayce Mill Supply. Following the death of C.H. Cayce, Granville L. Cayce Sr. assumed the duties of President and General Manager until his death in 1947. At this time Granville L. Cayce, Jr., a Senior at the University of Kentucky, was elected President and General Manager of CMS. During his leadership the company's direction expanded into the plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling areas. In addition to this expansion, an outside sales department was also established. The sales department focused primarily on Christian county and surrounding Western Kentucky areas. Granville Jr. remained President and General Manager of CMS until his death in 1991. In 1952, Robert H. Cayce graduated from the University of Kentucky. He proceeded to join Cayce Mill as Vice President and Sales Manager.
