About
Essex County Cricket Club was founded in 1876 with its First Class debut played against Leicester in 1895 at Leyton. The Club is based at The Essex County Ground, in Chelmsford, and also plays festival cricket in Castle Park, Colchester. We are a Members' Club, run by a committee of elected representatives of our supporters. The Club has 6 County Championship wins to its name, the first in 1979, with the last of these occurring in 1992. The County has also enjoyed success in the Limited Overs competitions, most recently in the Friends Provident Trophy in 2008. The current Club Captain is James Foster, and the Chief Executive is Derek Bowden. The Club is currently searching for a new First XI Head Coach ahead of the 2016 season.
