About
ToolCASE was formed in 1991 and continues to grow. We started out as a business with expertise in Oracle databases and offered our expertise in the form of a consulting practice. As we served our clients with their issues we observed a reoccurring theme. As database issues arouse, we researched the cause and effect. We found that many issues that looked like database problems were, in fact, problems with other parts of the IT infrastructure that affected the database. ToolCASE began to better understand the interdependencies of the IT infrastructure. If a network component went down it could manifest itself as the user not being able to access the database. When this happened, the typical response was to mobilize all IT staff until the problem had been identified and resolved. ToolCASE saw an opportunity, due to this type of IT management. ToolCASE began to develop a sophisticated monitoring tool that would pinpoint any IT areas of failure so that they could be resolved more efficiently. By knowing exactly what area of the IT infrastructure was not operating properly, only those human resources that could fix the issue needed to be mobilized. This has made for a much more efficient use of human resources. In addition to the development of a monitoring system that looked at the IT infrastructure in an integrated manner, ToolCASE developed a unique notification and escalation system that was incorporated into the monitoring software. When an event occurred, the software would notify the proper staff via IP, wireless or other means specified by our clients. If the event was not 'owned' by someone within pre-set guidelines, then the escalation process began until ownership had been established. These features allowed our clients to know, that events that could have a significant impact on the business would not 'slip through the cracks'. Our software also has real-time communications so that management and/or customers can better understand exactly what is going on during an event rather than finding out after the fact in a post event report. Since those early days our areas of expertise has grown, past just Oracle, to now knowing and supporting Databases, Networks, Operating Systems and Applications. In 2003, our technology matured and allowed us to check login information against a preset of acceptable standards. ToolCASE now can monitor logins to critical and sensitive databases and notify if there are unauthorized logins. Our software looks at User Name, IP address and the Application for verification of authorization. This product extension has seen significant success in the financial institution sector to help them protect sensitive client information. The Intrusion Notification also assists financial institutions comply with recent laws passed to insure the privacy and security of consumer information.
