Independent Stave Company was founded by T.W. Boswell in 1912 and for the first 40 years, our business focus was on white oak staves and heading for cooperage. By 1951, J.E. Boswell had expanded into the bourbon barrel business that later led to the establishment of our wine barrel division, World Cooperage by current CEO and Chairman of the Board John Boswell. Since 1997, we have established international subsidiaries to meet the growing demand for American oak worldwide: Tonnellerie Du Monde in Bordeaux, Grupo Tonelero Andino in Santiago and World Cooperage Australia in Adelaide. Today we produce over 50% of the barrels made in the world, marketing our products in over 19 countries. Our passion and desire to capture new markets has created our newest cooperage, Tonnellerie Quintessence, in Bordeaux, France. Additionally, the company has a subsidiary, Stave Associates International, who markets export stave and heading sets to cooperages in South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We invite you to also visit our other oak-related business at Missouri Hardwood Products and our landscape mulch company, Missouri Mulch. Nearly a century since the company's founding, Independent Stave Company still embodies solid values, tradition, vision and hard work. Total commitment to quality and service has made us the largest cooperage company in the world, thanks to the unfailing support of our satisfied customers.
