was Jacob Thiel who began the family tradition of quality workmanship. This gifted craftsman taught his six sons everything he knew about his trade. In 1955, Robert and Donald Thiel opened their doors for business as R&D Thiel, and were soon joined by their brothers Thomas, Gerald, Allan and Harry.
