The John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science is Houston's only interactive science center and a member institution of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Located in the heart of the city's rich and varied Museum District at 1515 Hermann Drive, the museum offers an exciting "inner body experience." Interactivity begins in the Jim Hickox Amazing Body Pavilion. Designed as a voyage through a Texas-sized human body, the Pavilion includes giant models of human organs and dozens of hands-on exhibits and science stations. Visitors of all ages may explore how each system of the body works and how to stay healthy. The museum also offers video and live theater productions, hands-on science classes and demonstrations, traveling exhibitions, summer camps, and other programs for schools, groups, families, and adults. Visitors enjoy shopping for unique gifts at the museum's Amazing Body Store. The George and Barbara Bush Grand Hall, DeBakey Learning Centers and McGovern Theater are available for after hours rentals for special events and parties.
