About
In 1968, Joe Piper made a discovery that would forever change the paperboard industry. While calling on a company making garment hangers, he was asked to find a suitable substrate to be used for a device to hold a suit coat together after it was pressed by the cleaners. He found a mill supplier that had hundreds of tons of rejected Milk Carton Stock with no market for it. When his customer purchased the first truckload and began successfully using this material, the job lot paperboard industry was born. Until this time almost no one was even aware this opportunity existed. Joe incorporated his business and began to purchase rejected board from the mills, warehouse it, and sell it under his own name. Customers and growth followed. By 1973, Joe Piper Incorporated was the leading distributor of poly coated job lot board in the country. More grades of bleached board were added to our inventory as other mills became eager to supply us. Soon, we invested in our own warehouse and converting facilities. Today, Joe Piper Incorporated continues the legacy our founder began 36 years ago. We now service customers from two state of the art distribution centers located in Birmingham, Alabama with over 750,00 square feet of space. New precision sheeters and slitter rewinders can provide cut to size sheets and rolls with quality that is second to none. These capital investments, coupled with unparalleled customer service, are just two reasons why Joe Piper Inc. is the worldwide leader in joblot paperboard distribution.
