The Frank W. Kerr Company was founded in Detroit in 1913. In March of 1951, the Company was purchased and began operation under new management. With strong leadership, the Company grew, extending its services and mix of merchandise. In the late 1960's, the Company's growth necessitated a move to a larger facility in Novi, Michigan. In 1973, Frank W. Kerr acquired the Midwest-Clayman Co., a rack-jobber of cosmetics and sundries. This acquisition grew Kerr's inventory beyond any other drug wholesaler and provided their retail customers with the full benefits of a comprehensive program. In 1978, the Company completely renovated, semi-automated and computerized its entire facility by installing a handling system which allowed the Company to continue its growth in sales and productivity. During the 1980's, the facilities were enlarged in various phases to provide better service and merchandise assortment to our customers. These expansions resulted in a state-of-the-art distribution center now totaling over 350,000 square feet. The Company develops and tailors programs to meet the needs of a wide range of customers from independent community pharmacies and specialty pharmacy providers to cooperatives, chain drug stores, chain drug warehouses, grocery and mass merchandisers. This diverse experience offers benefits to all customers. Today, the Frank W. Kerr Company is one of the largest, independent wholesalers in the country distributing brand and generic pharmaceuticals, health and beauty care, private label products, sundries, and promotional goods. The Company employs over 150 associates in Novi. A variety of specialized programs are utilized by wholesale and retail accounts in over 15 states.
