In Great Britain, GeoPlace LLP is the\nguardian and champion of that information on a national scale.\n\nWe act as a co-ordinator, supporting the nation’s street and\naddressing data creators, making that information widely\navailable through Ordnance Survey and our statutory partners.\n\nWorking together with our partners, we maintain one of the\nnation’s largest, most valuable shared assets – standardised\naddress and street indexes that are trusted by the whole of the\npublic sector, the private sector and beyond.\n\nAt the heart of those two indexes (the National Address Gazetteer\nand the National Street Gazetteer), data users find two powerful\ndata identifiers: Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs)\nand Unique Street Reference Numbers (USRNs). These enable\nmany different data sources to be connected with ease and with\nconfidence. There is no duplication. No ambiguity. Accuracy is\nour watchword. The use of this data leads to lower risks and costs;\nhigher productivity and profitability, and it brings down many of\nthe practical barriers to transformation and innovation across\nboth the public and private sector.\n\nWithout exception, Britain runs more efficiently and effectively\nwhen service providers use UPRNs and USRNs – from next-day\ndeliveries of online shopping, to planning street works, collecting\nmeter readings, or directing the emergency services to the\nright address in a high-rise block of flats.
