The Institute for Health Research and Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago is an incubator and home for multidisciplinary research of complex threats to population health, including obesity, tobacco use, cancer, health disparities, and chronic disease in an aging society. Directed by Dr. Robin Mermelstein, the institute is a leader in providing scientific evidence to inform public policy and health care practices to ensure the most effective strategies for achieving the U.S. Health People 2020 goals. Since 1997, the institute has supported more than $250 million in research funding.
