Asylum Entertainment was founded in 2001 by Emmy and Peabody award winning producer Steve Michaels and independent producer Eric M. Johnson. In the early years, the company's primary focus was sports programming and they created several successful shows for Fox Sports Net including the 10-time Emmy nominated series Beyond The Glory. The two-hour presentation of Tyson about the life of infamous former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is considered the standard of excellence among sports documentaries.
